French Immersion classes underway in Listowel

The new Grade 1 French Immersion (FI) Program at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Listowel has officially launched.

The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board has opened its third elementary French Immersion Program.

French Immersion classes are ongoing at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Goderich, St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary School in Clinton, Jeanne Sauvé Catholic School in Stratford, and St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Stratford.

The Board said the programs focus on helping students communicate in French, while ensuring a deep understanding and appreciation of French culture both in Canada and globally.

The program includes a 120 minute French Literacy Block daily and a 30 minute English Literacy Block daily. English language instruction will take place in Mathematics, Religion, and Music, while classes like Science, Health, Drama, and Physical Education would be in French.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
