Workplace fatality in Perth County

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say one person has died in a workplace incident in Perth County.

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, just after 4:00 p.m., OPP officers, Perth County Emergency Medical Services and West Perth Fire Services responded to a workplace incident in the area of Line 34 in West Perth.

Police reported the victim was unloading a Utility Terrain Vehicle but became trapped underneath the vehicle, which resulted in serious injuries.

A 53-year-old resident of Manitoba was rushed to hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
