Bridge closure coming for Truth and Reconciliation ceremony

Saugeen Shores staff are making everyone aware of an upcoming bridge closure for a special ceremony.

On Friday, September 29, students and staff from GC Huston will join Elders from Saugeen First Nation on the Zgaa-biig-ni-gan Bridge to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, along with members of the community.

The bridge will close from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday for the event. Emergency vehicles will still have access.

Drivers are being asked to be aware of more pedestrian foot traffic around the bridge during this time. An alternate route for those needing to cross the Saugeen River is shown below.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
