Stratford police charge 14-year-old with assault on fellow youth

Stratford Police Service charged a 14-year-old girl with assault causing bodily harm, after she allegedly knocked a fellow youth unconscious Monday afternoon.

Police say they were contacted by Perth County Paramedics who were transporting a 15-year-old girl who had been assaulted around 3:30 p.m. on October 2. Paramedics said they were called to the victim's house, but that the incident had occurred at the Downie Street bus terminal.

Investigation revealed that several witnesses had video of the assault and officers were able to identify the accused as a 14-year-old resident of Stratford. Police say video showed the accused get in an altercation with the victim, throw her to the ground and stomp on her face.

The 14-year-old was located and arrested that night. She was held in custody to attend a bail hearing.

Despite several people recording the incident, police say they didn't hear about it until paramedics reached out "some time after the event."

They encourage the public to contact 911 immediately if they witness violent incidents such as this.
