Police arrest and charge individual accused of sexual assault

The Hanover Police Service has arrested and charged a Hanover resident following a sexual assault investigation.

On October 10, Hanover Police officers received a complaint from a female victim who alleged she was sexually assaulted. A 56-year-old Hanover man is accused of committing the assault. The victim and accused were known to each other

During the investigation, a second female victim came forward accusing the same man of assaulting them.

The accused was arrested and charged with 2 counts of sexual assault. The accused was held and later remanded into custody at his bail hearing. The Hanover Police Service believe there may be other victims associated to this offender.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
