Hull becomes Deputy Mayor of South Bruce Peninsula

The vacant position of Deputy Mayor in South Bruce Peninsula has now officially been filled.

At its meeting on Tuesday, council unanimously voted to pass a bylaw to appoint Councillor Caleb Hull to the position. The position was declared vacant in October after then-Deputy Mayor Jay Kirkland became the municipality's mayor following the resignation of Gerry Michi, who stepped down amid controversy surrounding comments he made about the local Indigenous population.

“I look forward to serving my community and appreciate Council’s confidence in my abilities” Hull said in a news release issued by the municipality.

A report will be brought to council outlining options to fill Hull's now vacant council seat.
