New stop signs installed in Owen Sound

There are new stop signs at two different intersections of 4th Avenue West in Owen Sound.

The city reported that workers created all-way stop control on 4th Avenue West at 19th Street. Another all way stop was put in place for the east leg of 23rd Street West at 4th Avenue West.

Local residents had asked council for solutions to traffic and pedestrian safety and speeding concerns.

"One of Council’s strategic initiatives is to recognize the importance of a safe and secure community," said a statement from the city. "The new stop signs are expected to improve clarity of right of way for motorists and provide a break in traffic flow for pedestrians wishing to cross the road."
