Goderich to determine next councillor on Monday

Goderich will hold a special council meeting this Monday to determine who will be appointed to its vacant seat.

Town council has been missing one member since the passing of former mayor Myles Murdock in August.

The mayor's and deputy mayor's seats were both filled by appointment, and now council will have 11 applicants to choose from at its special November 20 meeting.

Barron Purser, Augustus Michalik, Mark David Woodward, Vanessa Kelly, Steve Buchanan, Steve John Bruce, Keith King, Brandon Meyers, Michael Daley, David Yates, and Shawn Thomson have all submitted their names for consideration.

Yates and Thomson appear to be the only two with previous Goderich council experience.

All applicants will have a chance to speak and answer questions, before a vote is held by members of council.

Those that wish to view the proceedings can visit council chambers or stream the meeting online, starting at 9 a.m.
