Third Suspect charged in murder of Owen Sound teen

A third suspect is facing charges in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service and the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch arrested a 17-year-old from Brampton and charged the youth with First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

On July 11, 2023, shortly after 1:00 a.m., the OSPS responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on 6th Avenue West, where they located a deceased individual in what investigators believe was a targeted shooting. The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Robert McIntosh of Owen Sound.

The accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing. Two other individuals are also facing First-Degree Murder charges, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. Both individuals remain in custody, as well.

The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the CIB and involves members of the OSPS, OSPS Crime Unit, OPP West Region Crime Prevention and Investigations, OSPS and OPP Forensic Identification Services, the OPP Regional Support Team, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
