Waterloo man charged in Hanover home invasion

Hanover police say a 42-year-old man suspected in an October home invasion has been arrested.

It happened on the night of October 15 in the area of 11th Street near 13th Avenue. Police say three men wearing masks entered a home in a targeted attack, taking assorted items before fleeing in a vehicle driven by a fourth suspect. One of the victims tried to give chase but was shot at by someone in the vehicle.

One of the suspects at large, identified by police as Charles "Chuck" Martin, was arrested Thursday in Kitchener on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a sawed-off, loaded shotgun, and possession of cocaine and fentanyl with intent to sell.

Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll said Martin is in the process of being brought back to Hanover to face charges related to the October home invasion.

A 34-year-old Waterloo man also faces charges related to the Hanover incident.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call Hanover police at (519) 364-2411.
