'Unwanted person' call leads to multiple charges

Saugeen Shores police responded to a report of an unwanted person at a residence in the south end of Port Elgin.

Police were dispatched around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

When they arrived officers determined that the parties knew each other and attempted to arrest the suspect. "A struggle ensued and the female was forcefully removed from the home," police said in a release.

During a search of the woman, police reportedly found a stun gun and methamphetamine.

The suspect was taken to the police station where police said she spat in the face of an officer.

A 35-year-old Port Elgin woman faces seven charges including:

  • unlawfully being in a dwelling (house)

  • resisting a peace officer

  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • carrying a concealed weapon

  • unauthorized possession of a weapon

  • possession of a Schedule I Substance (methamphetamine)

  • assaulting a peace officer

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
