First Responders holding annual food and toy drive Saturday

Saugeen Shores First Responders will hold their annual First Responders Holiday Food and Toy Drive on Saturday, December 9.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you are able to donate at Vanderwerf's Independent, Port Elgin Canadian Tire, Port Elgin Walmart, and Southampton Foodland.

"While you're doing your shopping, you can pick up a toy for a kid, there's options to get food bags, or drop off a non-perishable food item on your way out of the store," said Sergeant Andy Evans of the Saugeen Shores Police Service. "It's a great way to mobilize the community, to give back to those families in need."

Requested items include cereal, Kraft Dinner, pasta, pork and beans, canned soup, canned pasta, canned fruit, canned meat or fish, peanut butter, cookies, crackers, and toilet paper. First responders will also be accepting warm blankets for community paramedic patients in need.
