On Friday, council approved a motion to increase bag tag prices by 40 per cent, from $2.50 per tag to $3.50.
City staff had recommended a tag price of $3.25, but council, in a recorded 5-3 vote, opted to up to $3.50 per bag.
The changes will take effect in January 2024.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
