Charges laid in Kincardine home invasion

South Bruce OPP have charged a 24-year-old man after a home invasion that left the homeowner with injuries.

Police responded to a report of a home invasion along Princes Street in Kincardine around 5:45 a.m. on November 28.

The suspect had already left when police arrived.

Through investigation, OPP say they determined his identity and the man was taken into custody "after a brief struggle with police."

The man from West Perth is now facing charges including assault with a weapon (two counts), break and enter, assaulting a peace officer (two counts) and theft under $5,000.

The accused remains in custody pending the result of their next show cause hearing scheduled for December 8.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
