HPPH to permanently close facility in Wingham

Huron Perth Public Health will be permanently closing one of its sites in Wingham.

A media release from HPPH issued Tuesday says that the Wingham site at 131 John Street East will close permanently as of January 1, 2024, affecting some HPPH services in the area.

The Wingham HPPH site closure affects the following health unit services in Wingham:

-sexual health services

-immunizations

The closure will not affect all HPPH services in Wingham. Well water sample services are still available at the Wingham and District Hospital lab, and oral health services will continue to be provided through the HPPH space at the hospital at 270 Carling Terrace.

For sexual health services through HPPH, you can call HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 2406 or text 519-440-1439. Harm reduction supplies continue to be available through Royal Oaks Pharmacy at 131 John Street East in Wingham.

For immunization services through HPPH, call HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 3558.

In November, HPPH announced that a "funding shortfall" will be affecting its programs and services heading into 2024 and would result in job cuts.
