Lots of charges laid during first 15 days of OPP Festive RIDE Campaign

West Region OPP detachments have been very busy.

Over the first 15 days of the OPP Festive RIDE Campaign, from November 16-December 1, officers have conducted 730 RIDE check events across 13 West Region detachments.

Those include the Grey-Bruce, Huron County, Perth County and Wellington County OPP detachments.

In that time, police have laid 122 impaired driving charges and 14 warn-range suspensions. Over the same period in 2022, police laid 75 impaired charges and eight warn-range suspensions in 577 RIDE check events.

This year's OPP Festive RIDE Campaign, which aims to rake impaired drivers off the roads during the holiday season, runs from November 16 to New Year's Day.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
