Peabody re-elected as Bruce County Warden

Bruce County has re-elected Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody as its Warden.

During his initial term as Warden, Peabody undertook international visits to France and Finland, focusing on understanding the deep geological repository (DGR) approach for nuclear waste storage. These insights are particularly relevant to the ongoing proposal by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization for a DGR in South Bruce.

In his inauguration speech for the new term, Peabody emphasized the importance of fostering reconciliation with First Nations.

“Reconciliation with our First Nations is a key part of both Bruce County’s history, and our future," he said. "I’m dedicated to building meaningful relationships that promote respect and collaboration with First Nations.”

Additionally, the county elected Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau to the position of the first Deputy Mayor of Bruce County.
