Update: Woman charged in murder of infant

A 30-year-old woman now faces a charge of murder in connection with the death of an infant in Grey Highlands.

On Thursday, December 7 around 9:45 a.m., members of the Grey Bruce OPP received a call for assistance from a home on South Line B.

When they arrived, they found an unresponsive infant. The 10-month-old victim was transported to hospital in London with life-threatening injuries.

Police initially charged a resident of Grey Highlands with attempted murder and aggravated assault in connection with the incident.

But on Tuesday, police announced that the child died in hospital. Now, a charge of first degree murder has been laid against Nancy Brubacher, 30, of Grey Highlands.

The Grey Bruce Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
