Police investigating fatal crash involving horse-drawn buggy

A crash between a horse-drawn buggy and a vehicle has resulted in a fatality.

On December 18 just after 4 p.m., Perth County OPP responded alongside Perth County Paramedic Services, and the Perth East Fire Department, to a serious motor vehicle collision on Line 71, west of Perth Road 140 in North Perth. A passenger vehicle and horse drawn buggy had collided.

The two riders in the horse-drawn buggy were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. One of the riders, a 13-year-old, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other rider, an 8-year-old, was transported to a trauma centre. The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The horse pulling the buggy also died as a result of the crash. Line 71 was closed for over 3 hours, but has since reopened.

Police continue to investigate this crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
