Health Unit seeking dog involved in Stratford bite

Huron Perth Public Health is looking for a dog that bit a person in Stratford on Thursday.

The incident occurred between 1 and 1:15 p.m. in a parking lot adjacent to the Schaeffler Aerospace Canada Inc. building.

The dog involved is described as a short hair boxer, weighing around 80-90 pounds. It was wearing a black winter coat and has white markings on the face.

The owner is described as appearing to be in his 50s, tall, thin and wearing a dark coloured hat and mittens.

Public Health is looking to verify if the dog is up-to-date on its rabies vaccination. If it's not found, the victim may need to complete a series of rabies shots.

Anyone with information is asked to contact HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 3670.

Public Health reminds people to always obtain the contact information of the owners of the animal involved in a biting incident.
