Numerous Emergency Department closures upcoming during holidays

To no one's surprise, there will be a swath of local emergency department closures during the holiday break.

St. Marys Memorial Hospital will experience an ED closure on Sunday, December 24. The Emergency Department will close at 5 p.m. It will remain closed all day on Monday, December 25. It will finally reopen on Tuesday, December 26 at 7 a.m. at which point regular hours of operation will resume.

Additionally, The Durham Emergency Department will be closed on Sunday, December 24 at 5:00 p.m., reopening on Monday, December 25 at 7:00 a.m. It will close again Saturday, December 30 at 5:00 p.m., reopening on Sunday, December 31 at 7:00 a.m. It will close once more on Tuesday, January 2 at 5:00 p.m., reopening on Wednesday, January 3 at 7:00 a.m.

The Chesley Emergency Department will also be closed all day on Tuesday, January 2. It will close at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 1, reopening at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3.

Ambulance by-pass has been undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 to be taken to the nearest Emergency Department.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
