Wingham warrant leads to trafficking charges

A North Huron man has been charged with drug trafficking after OPP executed a search warrant in Wingham Thursday.

A search warrant was executed at a residence on Alfred Street due to an investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU).

As a result of the investigation, police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and psilocybin. Stolen property belonging to the Township of North Huron was also recovered during the warrant as well as Canadian and US money.

Police estimate the total value of seized items to exceed $4,600.

The 25-year-old is facing two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one charge for possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused was remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled in Goderich.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
