Suspect charged in string of SFN B&Es

A 47-year-old from South Bruce Peninsula has been charged in connection with five break and enters in Saugeen First Nation.

Grey Bruce OPP say they received the first report of a break and enter to a seasonal residence on 17th Street South on Wednesday. Police canvassed other properties in the area and located two more seasonal residences which had been entered on 4th Avenue South.

On Thursday OPP responded to two more break and enters to seasonal residences on 17th Street South.

As a result of the investigation, the suspect is facing five counts of break and enter, as well as charges for mischief under $5000, possession of break-in instruments and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The accused was held in custody for the purpose of attending a bail hearing.

The OPP encourages seasonal property owners to have someone check their property daily during the "off season" to ensure everything is secure.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
