Owen Sound woman facing impaired driving charges

A 38-year-old woman is facing impaired driving charges following a crash in Owen Sound.

Police responded to the intersection of 10th Street East and 9th Street East just before 5 p.m. Thursday for a collision.

The driver of one of the involved vehicles fled the scene. Police said that witnesses of the crash assisted them in locating the driver and her vehicle a short distance away.

Officers determined that the female driver was under the influence of alcohol and arrested her.

After further testing, police found that the woman had nearly 3 times the legal limit of alcohol in her system. They also discovered that the woman had a previous impaired driving conviction in 2023 and was breaching a probation order saying that she was not to "occupy the driver seat of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level above zero."

The woman is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, 2024.
