SBGHC announces first baby of 2024

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre celebrated its first baby of the New Year on Tuesday morning.

The OB team at the Dr. R.J. Creighton Family Birthing Centre in Walkerton welcomed the first birth of 2024 at 8:34 a.m. on January 2.

According to SBGHC, proud parents Jordan and Kennedy welcomed their baby boy, River Joseph Alexander Mattiuz. He came in at seven pounds and 14 ounces, and 19.5 inches long.

Mattiuz was not the first birth in the area. The Hanover District Hospital welcomed its first newborn the previous night.

Lillian Frey was born to Jon and Elsie on January 1, at 10:49 p.m. She was eight pounds and six ounces.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
