Gas stolen from vehicle in Meaford

Grey Bruce OPP are investigating a gas theft in Meaford.

Police say a vehicle was parked at a business on Highway 26, where it was entered, the gas tank drilled into, and drained of its fuel.

Video surveillance provided to police showed the incident occurred on January 4 between 5:40 a.m. and 5:52 a.m. The value of the theft and damage to the vehicle is estimated at a total of $1,900.

Grey Bruce OPP are reminding residents to keep their vehicles locked and take all valuables out. It's also important to ensure any video cameras on site have night vision capability.

Anyone with information, or who sees a suspicious person in and around businesses or vehicles at night, is asked to contact OPP.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
