Durham emergency department closing overnight

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre is temporarily closing the Durham Hospital emergency department overnight on Saturday.

The ED will close at 5 p.m. on January 20 and reopen at 7 a.m. on January 21.

SBGHC says the closure is due to insufficient staffing.

Ambulance by-pass will been undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 to be taken to the nearest Emergency Department.

For non-urgent health care needs, Health Connect Ontario is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions by calling 811.
