Bruce County Library seeking volunteers for tax assistance program

Bruce County is looking for volunteers to assist an ongoing program as tax season approaches.

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) is returning to Bruce County Public Libraries in Chesley, Port Elgin, Walkerton, and Kincardine.

This program assists those with low to modest incomes receive access to monetary support through filing their taxes.

The Library says no prior experience is necessary, as training will be provided. It adds its an excellent opportunity to contribute to the community, gain valuable skills, and connect with fellow volunteers.

Clinics are set to start the second week of March and run until the end of April.

In 2023, volunteers assisted 259 individuals and families in filing their income tax returns.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
