Drugs seized during traffic stop

Two men, one of whom was wanted, were arrested and face drug charges following a traffic stop in Hanover.

A West Grey man was identified as a suspect by police in an incident earlier this month.

Hanover police said that just after 4 p.m. on January 4, officers attempted to stop a speeding Ford F250 in the area of 10th Street and 17th Avenue. The truck nearly hit several vehicles as it fled and police did not pursue it for safety reasons.

On Thursday, at 8:30 p.m. officers spotted the suspect in the passenger seat of a vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

According to police, the 30-year-old was arrested and found in possession of a quantity of meth, fentanyl, and over $2,000 in cash.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at $5,400.

The man faces multiple drug possession charges as well as one count of flight from a peace officer and one count of dangerous driving.

A 22-year-old Hanover man also faces two drug possession charges. He was released from police custody with a future court date in Walkerton.
