Kitchener man charged in overdose death of Central Huron teen

A Kitchener man is facing manslaughter charges stemming from the overdose death of a Central Huron teen.

On September 13, 2023, emergency services responded to a residence in Central Huron where a 19-year-old male was found unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation revealed that the victim died of an opioid overdose.

A joint investigation involving the Huron County OPP, Grey-Bruce OPP, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Centre of Forensic Science culminated in criminal charges this week.

On Wednesday, a 23-year-old from Kitchener was charged with manslaughter, as well as two counts of trafficking an illegal substance and one count of possession.

The accused appeared in Goderich court on Thursday to answer to the charges.
