Grey County paramedic recognized for excellence

A Grey County community paramedic was honoured with a 2023 Medical Directors Award of Excellence.

Teresa Tibbo was recognized by Dr. Sunil Mehta and Dr. Matthew Davis from the Southwestern Ontario Regional Base Hospital Program at the March 28 meeting of Grey County Council.

Tibbo is a paramedic, community paramedic and nurse, and an active member of Supportive Outreach Services which delivers mental health and addictions care to marginalized people in the community.

“It’s an honour to bestow the Medical Director’s Award of Excellence to Teresa on behalf of the Base Hospital Medical Council,” said Dr. Davis. “Our Council recognizes and values the significant contributions Teresa has made to both prehospital and out of hospital care for the people of Grey County, and the leadership role she plays amongst her peers.”

Tibbo joined Grey County paramedic services in July 2020.

“Teresa shows deep commitment and compassion when providing care to those experiencing homelessness and to patients dealing with mental health and addictions challenges. As a leader on our team, she demonstrates exceptional clinical skills and played a pivotal role in developing the Supportive Outreach program,” said Grey County director of paramedic services, Kevin McNab. “Teresa has had a profound impact on the community and is very deserving of this respected award.”
