Huron County OPP shares numbers from Easter Long Weekend traffic blitz

Numbers from the Easter Long Weekend Traffic Campaign have been released by Huron County OPP.

The traffic blitz, which was held March 29 to April 1, saw three motor vehicle crashes during the weekend with luckily no injuries suffered.

Huron OPP officers laid 26 seatbelt charges against drivers and passengers. Additionally, 163 speeding charges, 5 distracted driving and 1 stunt/racing charge were laid. A pair of impaired driving offences and other various traffic charges were among the 235 charges laid by Huron OPP officers over the weekend.

Officers also issued 140 warnings during the campaign.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
