AMDSB not renewing Employment Services contract

Avon Maitland District School Board will not be renewing the contract with Employment Services with Employment Ontario.

This means that AMDSB's Centre for Employment and Learning will no longer be the provider of employment services for Huron County after a one year transition period.

A release from the AMDSB cites increasing operating costs and the desire to "align our resources with our core mandate of supporting teaching and learning."

However, the Adult Education services of the CELs will remain in place, as these services support accessible learning opportunities across both counties.

Employment Ontario will now begin a process to find another employment services provider for Huron County, which will begin service on April 1, 2025.

“We are here to support our staff who are impacted by this change as we transition away from employment services. We are grateful to them as they have provided exemplary employment services and support to members of our community," said Jane Morris, Superintendent of Education.
