Local farmers markets looking for new vendors

Minto is looking for new vendors for this year's Minto Farmers Market.

Erin Raftis, Marketing & Community Development Coordinator for Minto, explains what the farmer's market is.

"The Minto Farmers Market is open from June 1 until September 28 on Saturdays from 9 a.n. until noon at the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum. We've got a great lineup of different vendors and farm vendors, they have produce, different baked goods and also some artist and craft vendors. So a great little selection where you can come by and shop local, fresh homegrown food every Saturday throughout the summer," Raftis shared.

Applications for new vendors to add to the existing lineup for this year's Minto Farmers Market are now being accepted. Raftis says the steps to do so are fairly simple.

"We're seeking vendors to compliment our existing pool of vendors. So anyone with baking, maple syrups, cheeses, preserves, anything like that we're excited to have. If you've got a product, you can visit our website at MintoFarmersMarket.ca, become a vendor and fill out the application there, or email me, and that's also on the website," said Raftis.

Raftis adds that Minto will be working with other local farmer's markets.

"We're excited to work with Wellington North and all the farmers markets in Wellington County to host a Farmers Market Trail Passport again. So if you visit the various markets throughout the county you can enter to win a prize. So all of our markets will have the passports and you can pick them off and get out on the trail," Raftis enthused.

Applications for the Wellington North Farmers Market can be found by contacting Robyn Mulder at the Township of Wellington North, or go to www.simplyexplore.ca/farmers-market.html.
