Canadian Blood Services announce another local blood donation event

Canadian Blood Services is hosting another local donation event.

The event will be held Tuesday, May 7 from 1-7 p.m. at the Mount Forest Recreation Complex.

With spring underway, Canadian Blood Services is urging eligible donors to donate as often as possible to keep up with the demand. Donors with O-negative blood are especially valuable, because if you have O-negative blood, you are a universal donor.

That means your donation can be given to any patient, regardless of blood type. In emergency situations, when there's no time to confirm a patient's blood type, O-negative blood can mean the difference between life and death.

You can book your blood or plasma donation by downloading the GiveBlood app, calling 1 888 2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283) or booking now at blood.ca. You can also register to become a stem cell donor or organ and tissue donor at blood.ca.
