UPDATE: Collingwood OPP seeks tips in fatal single-vehicle crash

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Collingwood are asking the public for tips in a fatal crash near the Town of Blue Mountains Friday night.

Emergency crews responded to Grey Road 19 south of the 6th Line just before 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

Police said the only vehicle involved was found in a ditch.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPP has identified the victim as Aven Akerman, 20, of Midland.

Any witnesses or drivers with possible dashcam footage are asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
