Drugs and guns seized, five arrested across multiple municipalities

Dozens of charges have been laid and an estimated $126,000 worth of drugs have been seized in an investigation police have dubbed "Project Riptide."

On Friday, Saugeen Shores police and policing partners across Southwestern Ontario executed four search warrants in Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, and Brampton.

According to police, drugs including cocaine, psilocybin, fentanyl, and cannabis were seized alongside two handguns, one rifle, and other prohibited devices.

"These seizures are extremely significant," said Saugeen Shores Police Chief Kevin Zettel.

Five men were arrested and held in police custody for bail.

A 19-year-old from Saugeen Shores faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a prohibited device x2

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

  • Careless storage of a firearm

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine

  • Possession of property obtained by crime

A 35-year-old from Saugeen Shores faces the following charges:

  • Trafficking (cocaine)

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine

  • Possession - psilocybin

A 49-year-old from Saugeen Shores faces the following charges:

  • Trafficking - cocaine x3

  • Possession of prohibited device x2

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

  • Careless storage of a firearm

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)

  • Possession of property obtained by crime

A 45-year-old from Kincardine faces the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - psilocybin

  • Possession of proceeds of crime

  • Possession of a prohibited device

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm x2

  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

A 39-year-old from Brampton faces the following charges:

  • Trafficking - cocaine x6

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - psilocybin

  • Possession of proceeds of crime

  • Possession of a prohibited device

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm x2

  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
