MPP announces funding for local health units

Perth Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has announced funding for two local health units.

A release from Rae's office shares that Huron Perth Public Health and Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health are both receiving funding boosts.

HPPH is getting one-time additional funding of $146,900 in combo with over $1.3 million in additional base funding.

WDGPH is getting one-time additional funding of $318,900 alongside over $469,000 in additional base funding.

According to Rae's release, this funding "supports the government’s work to strengthen public health, including restoring provincial base funding to the level previously provided under the 2020 cost-share formula, and providing 1 per cent growth base funding for the 2024 calendar year."

“Our Public Health Units help ensure we have healthy and vibrant communities,” Rae said. “This additional funding will ensure our public health units can continue to provide valuable services for our rural communities.”

Rae's release also shares that the announced funding is part of a larger $91.7 million investment in additional one-time and base funding for Public Health Units across Ontario.
