14-year-old pedestrian struck in hit and run

A 14-year-old teenager was struck by a vehicle on the afternoon of May 8 in Owen Sound.

The incident took place near 4th Avenue West and 16th Street West.

Police said the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, that then fled the scene.

The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Officers found the suspect and vehicle was found nearby.

According to a news release, the 47-year-old driver was allegedly impaired with alcohol, three times the legal limit.

The woman now faces charges for operation while impaired, operating with over 80 milligrams of alcohol, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and failing to stop after an accident.
