UPDATE: Highway 21 reopens following fatal collision involving pedestrian

A pedestrian lost their life in a collision with a vehicle on Highway 21.

On May 7 at 9:50 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded alongside Grey County Paramedic Services and the Intertownship Fire Department to a report of a serious collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision.

On Wednesday, police described the deceased individual as a 36-year-old from Saugeen First Nation.

The OPP believe they who the driver was, but said they will not be releasing their identity.

Highway 21 was closed between Grey Road 18 (Springmount) and Grey Road 3 in Georgian Bluffs for the investigation, but has since been reopened.

The Grey Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information to call them or Crime Stoppers.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
