One injured in jewellery store robbery

The owner of a jewellery store was injured during an alleged robbery.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on Saturday, South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a robbery at a business in Kincardine.

Police said that when they arrived they found that the business owner had been injured. The victim was taken to hospital to be treated and was later released with minor injuries.

Officers arrested the suspect at the scene. According to police, a 46-year-old from Saugeen First Nation has been charged with:

  • breaking and entering

  • assault with a weapon x2

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

  • robbery with theft

  • failure to comply with a probation order

All of the items taken from the store have been recovered, police said.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
