Charges laid in Huron County drug overdose death

Two more people have been charged in connection with a drug overdose death in Huron County.

On September 13, 2023, police responded to a home in Central Huron where a 19-year-old male was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation determined the cause of death to be an opioid overdose.

The Huron County OPP Community Street Crime Unit, Major Crime Unit, West Region OPP Regional Support Team, and Highway Safety Division, under the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, have charged 21-year-old from Kitchener and a 29-year-old from Waterloo.

The 21-year-old from Kitchener faces multiple charges, including possession of prohibited devices, trafficking in cocaine, and trafficking in opioids. They have been released from custody and will appear in court on June 14, 2024, in Goderich, while the 29-year-old from Waterloo faces two trafficking charges.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
