The 2024 Stratford Festival opens

The Stratford Festival’s 72nd season gets underway this week, as the first six of the twelve 2024 productions officially open.

The excitement gets underway on Monday, May 27, with the opening of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the Festival Theatre. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Red Carpet rolls out at 6:00 p.m. with the Stratford Police Pipes and Drums parade to the Festival Theatre taking place at 6:30 in the evening. The festivities continue with a 7:10 p.m. Grass Dance by Chris Mejaki, accompanied by traditional drummers led by Scott Stevens. The evening wraps up with an After Party in Lobby at 10:30.

The Tony-winning musical Something Rotten! opens Tuesday at the Festival Theatre. On Wednesday the Tom Patterson Theatre officially opens for the season with Cymbeline, followed by Hedda Gabler on Thursday.

The Avon theatre opens on Friday featuring the hit musical La Cage aux Folles. Opening week will wrap up with the opening of Romeo and Juliet at the Festival Theatre on Saturday.

Six more shows will open later in the season: Wendy and Peter Pan, The Goat or, Who Is Sylvia, Get That Hope, London Assurance, Salesman in China and The Diviners.
