Crash involving motorcycle in Stratford sends teen to hospital with serious injuries

A two vehicle crash in Stratford involving a motorcycle sent a teen to hospital with what police are calling "serious injuries."

The Stratford Police Service says it happened on Downie Street at Douro Street on Thursday morning. A car and a motorcycle were involved in the crash.

The crash sent the 18-year-old male rider of the motorcycle to Stratford General Hospital with serious injuries after he collided with a car being driven by an 81-year-old woman.

Police later said that the motorcycle driver has been charged with careless driving, as well as not having insurance or proper licence plates.

Police say witnesses reported the motorcyclist was travelling south on Downie Street at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.

Crews initially called in an ORNGE Air Ambulance, which was eventually deemed unnecessary.
