High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The Bruce County Rail Trail will be undergoing corridor and surface improvements throughout the month of June between Sideroad 30 and the Huron-Bruce Road, south of Mildmay.Work will include corridor widening and the application of aggregate material to improve trail accessibility.Trail access may be impeded, and temporary closures may be required at times.The Bruce County Rail Trail is a multi-use trail that is approximately 80km long and extends from Port Elgin to the Huron-Bruce Road and from Port Elgin to Bruce Nuclear Power.The rail trail also connects several community trails through the towns of Port Elgin, Kincardine, Paisley, Walkerton and Mildmay.
