Mount Forest Lawn Bowling Club gets funding boost

The Mount Forest Lawn Bowling Club (MFLBC) is looking a little greener these days.

MPP for Perth-Wellington Matthew Rae, announced the Ontario Government is providing the club with $140,600 in funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation's (OTF) Capital Grant.

Rae said organizations like this are essential to local culture and well-being.

The funds will allow the Mount Forest Lawn Bowling Club to continue to offer programming for years to come.

MFLBC President, Brenda Eckhardt, echoed those sentiments.

"This OTF grant allows the MFLBC to maintain delivering quality programs for the Mount Forest and surrounding area” said Eckhardt. “Without this type of help from the Ontario and Canadian governments non-profit organizations could no longer serve the public.”

The funding has already allowed the MFLBC to improve their greens, replace a leaking roof and made the greens more accessible by providing a cement ramp.

The OTF Capital Grant is in place to improve rural community spaces like this by purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations.
