High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Perth County OPP are investigating after a recent arson that occurred in Perth East.On June 12 just after 2 p.m., OPP officers responded alongside the Perth East Fire Department to a fire on Line 67, in the Township of Perth East. Investigators says there were no occupants in the building at the time, and luckily there were no injuries as a result of the fire.The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Perth County Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation into the suspicious blaze.If anyone has any information regarding this fire, contact Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
