CNOY raises over $114,000 in Bruce Grey

United Way Bruce Grey has announced how the over $114,000 raised by Coldest Night of the Year events in Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Meaford, and Grey Highlands has been allocated.

The success of the events led to over $50,000 coming back to United Way, to support programs like Financial Literacy, Utility Assistance, and The Backpack Program.

The Saugeen Shores event raised $50,578, exceeding the lofty $50,000 goal. Partner organization the Port Elgin Rotary Club gave $31,387.51 to United Way Bruce Grey, as well as $3,000 to United Housing for All to help efforts tackling homelessness and affordable housing initiatives in Saugeen Shores.

The Kincardine event exceeded it's $25,000 goal by over $2,700. That led to a $8,700 contribution to the Kincardine Good Food Box Neighbour to Neighbour Program, which helped deliver nearly 400 boxes of produce to struggling households.

Meaford also cleared its fundraising goal of $20,000, generating $7,000 for the local Rotary Club to ensure the continued operation of the Rotary House.

And the Grey Highlands event raised three quarters of its $20,000 goal, providing the South East Grey Community Health Centre with a $5,000 donation to addresses the needs of low-income and precariously housed individuals in the area.

The United Way Bruce Grey has already set the date for next year's walks, Saturday, February 22, 2025.
