High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service is asking for the public's help identifying a suspicious person observed in Port Elgin earlier this week.Police say the man was seen in the area of Market Street and Waterloo Street and that the incident occurred on Wednesday between 11 p.m. and midnight.Police did not share details of what offence, if any, occurred. However, they're asking for help identifying the man described as 6 feet tall and wearing all black clothing and a black baseball cap.If anyone has surveillance footage of the area, contact police at 519-832-2500 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
