Four swimmers rescued from waters off Kincardine

Four swimmers in distress were rescued from the water off Station Beach in Kincardine on Monday.

Members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and South Bruce OPP marine unit responded at 7:04 p.m. on July 1, 2024, after receiving a report of swimmers yelling for help in Lake Huron. Police attended and located the four swimmers, who were taken to shore by the assistance of OPP and bystanders.

One person was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

It's never too late to learn how to swim, according to the South Bruce OPP. People are urged to only swim in water that is not too deep for them to manage. Beachgoers should check the weather forecast, and avoid alcohol when swimming.
